It’s crazy to think that the four of us are from Germany, Australia and Portugal, met in Indonesia, reunited in Greece, are now building our dream hotel and retreat together in Bali with students from around the world!
This time last year we were sitting together and were about to introduce our newest project to you: Club Life Design - an online academy that helps ordinary people like us to build an extraordinary life. We are so grateful for the life we have been able to create for ourselves and made it our mission to help you do the same.
Little did we know that only one year later we’d have nearly 100k followers on Instagram and over 7000 students that had taken our classes. Without you, this would not have been possible and we are so proud of every single one of you. Not only do you impress us everyday with the pictures and videos you create, the communities you build, and the collaborations you get offered, but most importantly the support you provide to each other.
You can all be so proud of yourselves because you have done something most people fail to do: you took the first step and got started! You decided it’s time to take matters into your own hands and take one step closer to the life you dream of having and one which you deserve.
Oftentimes we don’t realize what we have achieved, which is why we want you to take a step back and look at the progress you have made so far. Sometimes, we give up because we are unaware of how close we are to success and forget how much we’ve done and how far we’ve come.
It’s very easy for us to only notice our mistakes and failures. But what about our wins? What about the skills you have learnt? That’s what you should focus on! You didn’t get the collaboration you wanted to have? Don’t worry, you’ll get the next one. You didn’ sell as many products as you hoped you would? That’s fine, give it a bit more time and learn from the experience. The Reel you thought would go viral didn’t? That’s ok, not every post of ours is as successful as we hoped. You didn’t hit the 10k followers you wanted to get by the end of the month? Be grateful for the ones you have, the rest will come over time - after all it’s not a race. What we’re trying to say, is that you should stop thinking about the things that didn’t work out and look at the things that did! That’s why it’s so important to set small goals and celebrate every step you take towards that larger goal.
Set specific milestones on the way to your big goal
Goals give our lives meaning and help us become better versions of ourselves. But we often tend to focus on the end goal, rather than the small and significant steps we take to get there. What many don’t realize is that sometimes we set goals that are not completely within our control, like reaching a certain number of followers or selling a certain amount of products. At the end of the day, that’s just not something you can guarantee will happen. However, there are a number of things that you can control, like the number of times you post, how often you engage with your community, or how many emails you send out.
And by hitting these smaller milestones and acknowledging them, you can celebrate your ability to follow through, regardless of whether you succeed or fail at the ultimate goal. The key to success is realizing that our big goals aren’t going to happen overnight, in the next week or maybe even the next year - and that’s okay. That’s why we want you to create a plan with specific milestones to hit on the way to your big goal.
Acknowledge your small wins
Once you set these milestones and then tackle them one by one, make sure to acknowledge your small wins. Celebrating these small victories will help you see that you are on the way to achievement and it will make you value your work more. Goals are hard work, and you deserve a reward as you work towards them.
Whenever you reach a goal, find a way to celebrate it. This can be as simple as adding a gold star on your calendar, treating yourself to a nice coffee, taking a trip somewhere or going out with a friend. Having something to look forward to will make you feel more motivated to keep going and to do even better. Our brains need positive feedback and rewarding yourself every once in a while will develop an “addiction to progress”. You will basically trick yourself into wanting to take the next steps.
NO = Next Opportunity
Seeing your failure as a bad thing is easy. Something didn’t turn out the way we thought it would usually lead us to believe that we did something wrong, and that we could have done better. But why not see this “loss” as a new opportunity? Instead of feeling down and unmotivated, use it to push yourself further, and to keep aiming for something bigger. It only shows that you tried - and eventually it will work out. Maybe you can even learn from it and improve for the next time. So, from now on don’t take failure or a “no” as a bad thing, see it as the door to the next great opportunity.
When we decided to start Club Life Design we obviously had big plans and hopes for it too. We wrote down our big goals which were getting to 100k followers within the first year and to release 4 courses by the end of the year. Now we nearly reached our first goal of getting to 100k followers, however we “only” managed to release 3 courses instead of four but that’s totally ok. Because we are more than happy with what we have achieved and even happier about all the feedback we have gotten so far. We are currently working on our next course which will hopefully be done within the first quarter of 2022 so instead of feeling bad that we didn’t reach our big goal we are here, only one year since we created CLD, celebrating all of you guys and the fact that we will soon have a retreat in Bali to welcome as many of you as possible. So much has happened and changed in this one short year and we have so much to be happy and proud of - and so do you!
Learning how to celebrate small wins is key if you want to keep up your motivation while pursuing your goals. You’ll see that the little steps taken over time have the potential to make a difference. They’ll add up and if you keep building on it you’ll see that you’ll get there eventually! Our journey started with our first post on instagram just like yours!
And now it’s your turn. What are your big goals? And what small steps can you take today to get you closer to meeting your big goals tomorrow? Remember that we are with you every step of the way, and you can always reach out to us and ask for advice if you need it.
