“What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.”
Have you ever heard the saying that you can create your own reality and what you focus on is what you draw into your life? Well, that’s the so-called “Law of Attraction” - a philosophy that suggests that positive thoughts bring about positive results in your life, while negative thoughts bring negative outcomes. Simply put, it is the ability to attract anything we focus on into our lives.
No matter the state you are in your life right now, if you want to start a business, meet new, like-minded people or get a raise, you might want to start shifting your thoughts accordingly. Now, I’m not saying that positive thinking and belief alone will make your dreams come true. You also need to put in the work, of course! You need to take consistent action towards your goals. Intentions are very powerful, but you also need to make an effort to get results!
For example, if your goal is to land your dream job, you can’t just hope for it - you need to put in the work. Maybe you need to learn an extra skill or gain more knowledge in a specific area. You might dream of launching your own business. While you should definitely manifest being successful with it, you also need to be ready for long hours of work. But as long as you live in alignment with your goals and take the necessary steps to bring them to life, you’ll see how a positive mindset can help you reach these goals faster.
So, let’s look at this in more detail and see how you can use it for yourself. The “Law of Attraction” can be broken down into seven “mini-laws” that affect how the world responds to us and the results we get in life.
The law of manifestation
Our thoughts and feelings create our reality – and what we focus on is what we will manifest in our lives. The clearer and more focused you are about what you really want, the easier it will be for you to attract those things into your life.
Best practice tip: To make the most out of it, say your desires out loud. Don’t just keep them for yourself. Wake up and say what you want to achieve. The more you focus on what you want, the faster you will manifest your dreams and goals. It also helps to visualize your goals and objectives. Create a visual mood board, for example, which helps you maintain a positive mindset while staying motivated and focused.
The law of magnetism
“You attract what you are” - everything that has happened in your life - the people, things, and opportunities that have arisen, as well as the situations in which you have found yourself - are a result of the energy you put out into the world. By focusing on the things you're grateful for you’ll be able to receive more of it in your life.
Best practice tip: We like to keep a gratitude journal where we put daily notes of what we are thankful for. We also simply like to talk about all the adventures that we have experienced so far and we think about what else we want to achieve.
The law of unwavering desire
Do you truly want the things you believe you want? If your wish to achieve or attract a certain thing is not strong enough, you won’t be able to manifest it in your life. When your desires are weak and don’t have a solid foundation, they won’t be able to attract what you want. Don’t get distracted by “social norms” or “trends”. Think and reflect on what you really want and need in life.
The law of delicate balance
There always has to be a balance between the different forces and elements in this world. And only when all the different aspects of your life are in balance, you will see that you can live in peace and joy. Appreciation and gratitude are the essential elements to achieving this balance. When we are too obsessed or desperate for something, it destroys the balance and this takes us further away from our desires.
Best practice tip: When we're seeking something we don't have yet, it's easy to get caught feeling like we are missing something. But focusing on your lack of love, lack of money, lack of happiness, etc, only reinforces that lack. Instead, be thankful for what you already have!
The law of harmony
The 5th law is the law of harmony and it shows us that if we are in tune with life, everything seems easy, and we “ go with the flow&rdquo. Sometimes we just have to accept certain situations. There will always be things that we are unhappy about if we look for them, but rather than dwelling on the things that are going wrong, try to find ways to accept them and improve the situation.
Best practice tip: To help you find this harmony you need to practice acceptance. Instead of focusing on what is wrong with the present or what needs to be changed, work on accepting things as they are. This doesn't mean that you won't continue to work toward a better future, it just means that you won't get demotivated by wishing for things to be different right now.
The law of right action
“ Treat others the ways you want to be treated.” How you behave and treat others will determine how others treat you. The words you choose and the actions you do affect the world around you and determine your experiences in life. When you focus on the right action and are kind to others, you will attract more positivity into your life. This is especially important when it comes to your relationship with others or even your partner.
The law of universal influence
And lastly, we have the law of universal influence. It’s easy to feel small and insignificant when we look at the big picture. But the truth is that everyone can have an impact on the world in all shapes and sizes. Everything you do will not only affect your immediate family and friends, but also perfect strangers. That’s why it’s so important to be extremely mindful of what you are thinking, doing, or saying.
Best practice tip: It’s important to practice positive self-talk. If you struggle with being overly self-critical, set a goal to engage in positive self-talk each day. Give yourself some compliments and acknowledge how far you’ve come. Often we don’t give ourselves enough credit. You’re doing great and you should be proud of that!
How to use the law of attraction for specific goals
Now that you know what the law of attraction consists of and how you can practice it, let’s take a look at some examples of how to use it to manifest specific outcomes in your life.
Career goals
When working with the law of attraction in your work-life, it's important to get specific about what you want. Write down your career goals using concrete statements like "I want to work with like-minded people who support my ideas", "I want to reach this position by the end of the year” or “I want to open my own business”. And of course, action is important here. If you want that promotion, ask yourself "What would the new me do?", “What do I need to do now so that I can live the life I aspire to have?”.
Love & relationship attraction
If you want to use the “Law of Attraction” for any relationship, no matter if that is with your family, friends, or a partner, start by reflecting because you might be subconsciously resisting it. There is a saying that goes: "if the universe keeps bringing you unavailable people, this could indicate something within you is still unavailable."
Once you identify this block, you can do the work of breaking down these inner barriers and building a more open approach to relationships. If you want to attract love into your life, be the love you want to attract! Be the kind, loving and generous person we know you are and you will see that you’ll get the same in return. Appreciate the love you do have in your life and look for ways to express it.
Your own well-being
Lastly, you can also use this universal law to improve your mental and physical health. Learning how to use the “Law of Attraction” will allow you to have a healthier mindset, which in turn will inspire you to feel more confident and be inspired to take better care of your physical health as well. It’s important to take time for ourselves and work on our personal improvement. But you will only be able to do that if you have a positive mindset about yourself.
Of course, the “Law of Attraction” will not be an immediate solution for all of your life's challenges. You won’t be able to achieve all your dreams just by wishing for them but it can help you get a more optimistic view of life and most importantly it will help you stay motivated to continue working toward your goals. And that’s what matters the most. As long as you believe in yourself you will eventually reach anything you aim for. The “Law of Attraction” is about shifting your mindset and aligning your action with your desires. When you can do those things, you can become the author of your life, and attract all of the possibilities.
I hope this inspired you to go out there and trust that you can do anything you put your mind to. If this is something you would like to learn more about, I recommend you read “The Secret”.
